About Karen

Born and raised in Texas, Karen J Montalvo is an Adobe Certified Expert in Lightroom and member of Professional Photographers of America, specializing in studio portraiture in Colorado Springs, CO.
Before returning to Colorado, she enjoyed a lead photography roll at Bloom Photography and Design in San Antonio, TX, incorporating her experience and vision in a collaborative effort with owner Norma Mitchell to create a luxurious portrait experience for clients.
Karen teaches photography to adults and grade school students and has led group photography adventures in Croatia and Costa Rica. She has also produced a photography series of some of her favorite destinations, including New Orleans, Montenegro, Ireland, and the Texas Hill Country where she grew up.
As an early adopter of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom (and being a bit of a self-proclaimed nerd), Karen found it natural to want to know everything possible about the program and began studying for Adobe's certification while living in Colorado in 2013. Now, she takes great pride in helping her fellow photographers master this robust program.
Constantly striving to improve and expand her artistic and technical knowledge, she embraces that there is no "arrival," only a journey as a photographer.
